Today we will introduce you to the most unique villages of India. While we are busy living hustle-bustle life, we’ve forgotten the attractive life of our Indian villages. We have almost lost the connection to rural areas. Though urban lifestyle is busy, fast, comfortable but the life of villages is calm, simple, quiet, with fresh air and full of greenery. According to a report, more than 6.5 lakhs villages are having 800 million people, which holds more than 60% of the Indian population.
I want to turn the clock back to when people lived in small villages and took care of each other.

Though we live with top-notch facilities, but with each passing day complexities of rural areas is increasing, some villages have no schools, no electricity, also the houses are made of mud or clay, even though it makes them eco friendly but also they require a lot of maintenance. Despite all the circumstances all we get to see is happy faces of the villagers, they own not the most but the best. They don’t dream of having a car or a bungalow yet they are the happiest people.
10 Unique Villages of India
1. Shani Shingnapur, Maharastra:
Shani Shingnapur is situated in Maharashtra in Nevasa taluka in Ahmednagar district.
It’s famous for Shani Dev temple.
The houses in the village have no doors or just the door frames, they believe in no theft or robbery. They believe lord Shani will protect them, also theft is a punishable act and lord Shani shall punish anyone attempting theft.
In decades there have been no records of theft.
2. Shetpal, Maharashtra:
Shetpal is a village in Madha taluka of Solapur district. Here, villagers have snakes as their family members. Snakes can roam from house to house. Snakes are worshipped daily. Villagers and snakes don’t live in fear of each other and no villager ever tried to harm snakes. They also have a special corner for cobras, so they can come anytime and relax. Regardless kids of the village play with the crawling creatures instead of getting scared of them. There have been no snake bite incidents ever.
3. Hiware Bazar, Maharashtra:
Hiware Bazar is a village situated in Ahmednagar district. In ancient India, the village was fleeing with increasing poverty, but their fate took a turn in the 1990s, it transformed into the richest village of India, with 60 millionaires and all farmers. The per capita income in 1995 was 830INR and according to a report last year the per capita income was recorded 30,000INR. They have well-structured roads, good types of equipment for farming, well-built houses. Shockingly it also has the highest GDP recorded.
4. Punsari, Gujarat:
Punsari is a village located in the Sabarkantha district. It is considered as India’s smartest village, all the houses in the village have toilets also they have two primary schools and a health center.

The village is enabled with CCTV and WiFi, also the street lights are solar-powered. There are more than 140 loudspeakers installed in the village for the public hearing.
5. Jambur, Gujarat:
Jambur is a village located in Junagadh district. This village is popularly known as an African village. The villagers are of African origin, speaking fluent Gujarati. The community is called Siddhi Badshah. Each villager has a different story of their African origin, some say the nawab bought Africans to hunt lions, while most of the villagers can not explain their origins.
6. Kuldhara, Rajasthan:
Kuldhara village is located in the Jaisalmer district. This abandoned village was once a prosperous village around 300 years ago. According to the sources, the evil eyes of Salim Singh was on the daughter of the sarpanch, he threatened the villagers if the marriage didn’t happen, it will have grave consequences. All the villagers left the village with a curse that no one will ever be able to settle in the village.
Hence, it is an abandoned village with no villagers.
7. Kodinhi, Kerala:
Kodinhi village is located in Malappuram district. The village is known as a twin town. It has more than 400 pairs of twins, with a population of 2000 families. Villagers consider twin births as genetic, but it may concern the water and air of the village, many researchers have tried to find a cause behind it, but it’s still a mystery to all of us.
8. Mattur, Karnataka:
Mattur village is located near the city of Shimoga. It is a village of Sanskrit speakers. Every villager speaks in poetic sounding Sanskrit even in their day to day life. They also have a Vedic lifestyle, chant ancient scripts.
It begin in 1981, a ten days Sanskrit speaking workshop was conducted to preserve the Sanskrit language. The villagers took an active part, the enthusiasm for learning Sanskrit was beyond imagination.
9. Rangdoi, Assam:
Rangdoi village is located in Jorhat district.
There is the weird belief in the Assamese, if two frogs are married with all the Hindu rituals, it can help to bring rainfall. Villagers have witnessed after the marriage, dark clouds covered the sky and it started raining.
They follow the complete Hindu rituals, the bride and the groom are kept in different houses, both are dressed up beautifully and the groom arrives at the bride’s house, with a lot of people accompanying him (Bharati’s).
10. Mawlynnong, Meghalaya:
Mawlynnong village is located in East Khasi Hills district. The village has owned a claim of the cleanest village of Aisa in 2003. The villagers have made a great effort to keep the village clean. You can witness the beautiful view of monsoons. It also has a 100% literacy ratio.
You can also see a wonderful yet strange but an amazing phenomenon, where a huge natural rock is balanced on a tiny rock.
