Stunning Debuts of Outsiders in Bollywood

The surnames and the riches versus the Outsiders and the rags, an ever old spat in Bollywood is still going strong. The Heat of Audience on Bollywood’s favorite guilty pleasure Nepotism is growing day by day. The struggle is still on but there are a few names that got in and how. They made our hearts melt when they got in and still continue to awe us. The stunning debuts of these outsiders in the last decade will remind us, that Bollywood does have talent. 

 

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh in Band Baja Baraat

The Brilliant man who charmed us all with his “Delhi ka launda” character Bittu in his stunning debut “Band Baaja Baaraat”. His acting was so convincing a lot of people still believe he belongs to Delhi, but our charming All-in-one package actually is a Mumbaikar. His story of struggle is not unknown to any, from outsider to a Bollywood star, after three years of auditioning he finally found his ticket in.

 

Ayushmann Khurrana

So, he is a singer, a music composer, a devoted husband and father, a brilliant actor and he can speak in a female voice too!!! He debuted leaving thousands behind with “Vicky Donor”. He was a radio jockey and later turned T.V. host before becoming the face of the guy next door fighting social stigmas. We loved him then, we love him now.

 

Yami Gautam

“Vicky Donor” was also the kick start to Yami’s career in films. She was praised well for her performance as the Bengali love. Further, she has been part of films like Badalapur, URI, and most recently Bala. She started in television starring in several shows. A shout out, we want to see her in more Bollywood films.

 

Vicky Kaushal

He struggled to make his place in Bollywood even after making a striking debut with ‘Masaan’ and further featuring in ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. The film won him awards and recognition as a great actor but not enough to give a launch to his career. His work in Raazi and Sanju brought him into the light and further to ‘URI- The Surgical Strike’, winning him National Award. We love him for all his work and gladly his  ‘struggle ka dukh khatam ho gya’.

 

Siddharth Malhotra

Starring in ‘Student of the Year’ with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhavan, He got a great amount of attention and success, and why not; just look at him. Though the big start got him further Big Bollywood films but none made as much noise as his debut. He started as a model but quit to become an actor, while he was selected for a film that in time got shelved, he worked as an assistant director to Karan johar. May he find his right fit, and we see the good gangster, just better.

 

Sanya Malhotra

She is a delight in her films as well as her dance videos. Her debut in ‘Dangal‘ as Babita Phogat got praises and mentions, the film was a huge success. Dangal was full of stunning debuts by outsiders, playing the young characters. Next in line ‘Photograph’ was also well received. All her work so far including badhai ho, Shakuntala Devi, patakha have been great successes. She is a trained dancer in contemporary and ballet. Hope we see her in her dancing shoes on the big screen soon. 

 

Diljit Dosanjh

After gathering love from the Punjabi film industry and mainstream music scene, He made his mind-blowing debut as a cute but corrupt turned good police officer in ‘Udta Punjab’. Despite strong performances/parts of his co-stars, he stood out and made a name for himself as a brilliant actor. His goofy presence is a ‘Good Newzz’, we would like more of.

 

Jim Sarbh

Jim played the Antagonist in the critically acclaimed biography ‘Neerja’. His performance stood out and bagged him most awards for ‘the best actor in a negative role’. His work in ‘Padmavat’,’ Death in the Gunj’, and ‘Raabta’ were loved as well. He has acted in several stage productions, further directing and writing: ‘bull’ and ‘eat’ before Neerja. He is as good as a ‘cold/mess’ we wish to see.

 

Siddhant Chaturvedi

The man that stole the show with his charming performance as MC Sher in ‘Gully Boy’ is on his way to further projects with lead roles with directors like Shakun Batra. He was gonna be CA, when he participated and won the Times Fresh Face 2013 and further starred in two web shows ‘life Sahi hai’ and ‘Inside edge’. We thank Zoya Akhtar for introducing  this treat to Bollywood, as well as giving Stunning actors, not official debuts but talent of outsiders. We want more, so much more. 

 

Bhumi Pednekar

She was an assistant casting director for six years and got the part while her team was looking for the sweet and simple Sandhya for ‘Dum Laga ke Haisha’. This Debut Film was a sleeping success, after which Bhumi Pednekar starred in Bollywood films that dealt with social issues. Her talent as an actor has brought her great recognition in a small period and we hope to see her keep shining.

 

Taapsee Pannu

She worked for a few years in the Tamil and Telugu film industry before turning to Bollywood. Taapsee debuted in ‘Chashme Baddoor’, a comedy that was a success. Her further choices were unconventional and got her recognition as a serious actor bit by bit. Her work is as bold as her personality and we just can’t get enough of her. 

 

Radhika Madan

Among these stunning debuts of outsiders, here is another star who rose from the television industry to the film leagues. Radhika debuted with Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Pataakha’, a critically acclaimed film and people loved her performance. Further starring in ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ got her noticed in Bollywood. She has worked with the legendary Irfan khan in her third “Angrezi Medium’. She is killing it already.

Sushant Singh Rajput

The Man who won hearts with his very first film ‘Kai Po Che’, was studying engineering in Delhi. While he was in college his interest shifted to acting and dance. This shift made him drop out and move to Mumbai. His acting in ‘Pavitra Rishta’, a highly acclaimed T.V. show, got him the well-deserved recognition. Sushant’s Bollywood career was as well a success as his T.V. career, with only one flop film. His work in “Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’ and ‘M.S. Dhoni- An Untold Story’ got him great critical appreciation. All his films brought us great joy. We lost a great talent, but his films are always gonna be there. We will remember him.
