About Roshni Nadar: India’s Richest Woman

She is currently the Chairperson of HCL Enterprise (a 8.9 billion dollar Indian tech giant) and also the first woman to lead a listed IT company in India.
Roshni was born to Shiv Nadar and Kiran Nadar in 1982 and is the only child of the couple. She grew up in the capital city of Delhi. After studying in Vasant Valley School, she went on to do her Bachelor’s from Northwestern University, the US majoring in Communication with a specialization in Radio/TV/ Film. Following this, Ms. Roshni pursued a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Kellogg School of Management, US with a focus on Social Enterprise Management and Strategy.
Her career took her across various companies before joining HCL Cooperation. Roshni Nadar subsequently became the executive director and CEO. And most recently, took charge as Chairperson after her father, Shiv Nadar stepped down.
Ms. Nadar is also a known philanthropist. She runs the NGO, Shiv Nadar Foundation and is also involved with VidyaGyan, a leadership academy for the underprivileged. Furthermore, Nadar also has set up ‘The Habitat’ – an organization committed to the conservation indigenous species and their natural habitats in India.
Her humanitarian contributions has been recognized and honored. One of the most prestigious was ‘The World’s Most Innovative People Award’ for Philanthropic Innovation by The World Summit for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (WSIE) in 2017. NDTV and Vogue has also given her laurels in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
Artistically, she is a trained classical musician. And in her personal life, Roshni Nadar married Shikhar Malhotra, Vice Chairperson of HCL Healthcare in 2010. They are parents to Armaan (b. 2013) and Jahaan (b. 2017).
