Palming:
Take a comfortable position wherever you’re sitting. Yes, it’s preferred to have the sitting position to feel relaxed. Now, take both of your hands and rub your eyes, to create some heat. Then give your hands cup shapes and place them softly on your closed eyes. Keep your hands on your eyes for few seconds to feel the heat. And then put them down. You can do it at least ten times in a go. Just make sure you’re not putting pressure on your eyes meanwhile doing this exercise. Your eyes can take few seconds to adjust to the light once you open your eyes.
It’s best to give your eyes some time to adjust the vision once you open your eyes.
Zooming:
This exercise is also known as focusing. The benefit of doing this exercise is that it helps you to improve the focus of your eyes.
To do this exercise, it is not necessary to only sit. It is totally up to you. Just make sure to keep your body calm. Find a window close to you and try to look straight at it. Move your arm out and keep your thumb up. Look at the tip of your thumb for few seconds. And then, without moving your hand shift your focus to the window. After few seconds, look outside the window. You can look at anything outside the window. Then after 3 seconds, look back to the window and then to the tip of the thumb.
In the same manner and reverse, do at least ten reps of zooming.
Massaging:
Massaging the muscles of the eyes helps to alleviate tension or stress and decreases the chances of getting glaucoma.
Sit straight in a relaxed position. Now Close your eyes and put your index and middle finger of both hands on your eyes. While massaging your eyes move your right-hand fingers anticlockwise and left-hand fingers clockwise. Now to make it fun, you can change the direction. Do ten reps of each cycle. And then relax your eyes for few seconds.
Writing A Message:
Writing a message by your eyes is like training your eye muscles for smooth movements. It’s easy because whatever you think of, you can make your eyes write it for you on any surface. All and all, it can be a brilliant workout for your eyes. How to do it?
It’s essential to be in a comfortable position. You can do it either standing or sitting, whatever suits you. Though, if you can sit, it can help you concentrate better.
Sitting in a relaxed position, look straight on the surface of the wall. Try to write a phrase or something. While writing on paper, your hand moves from one direction to another in the same way your eyes will automatically move in a particular pattern.
Eye Rolling:
Sit up straight, and keep your head still. While sitting in this position, look at your right without moving your head. Now slowly lookup, then to complete the cycle, look left and then look down. In this way, keep rolling your eyes for ten reps in a clockwise direction and then ten reps in an anticlockwise cycle.
Rolling your eyes is good to avoid unwanted strain on your eyes due to long hours of screen work.
Slow Blinking:
Due to long hours of work on computer or laptop. We keep our eyes stick to the screen, and we’re likely to have a low blink rate, which led us to have dry eyes. Dry eyes generally mean that the pigment or tears are not getting spread on the outer surface, which is essential for the eyes to protect them from bright light and pollutants.
You can do this exercise in any relaxed position. You only need to follow these five steps in this order; Close, Pause, Pause, and Open. In simple words, close your eyes and pause for 2 seconds, and then open.
Do practice blinking to make your eyes used to it.
The Bounce:
As the name suggests, this one is quite a fun exercise. This exercise also can be done in any relaxed position so, it’s not mandatory to sit. You can lay down on the bed as well. Keep your eyes open or closed and move your eyes quickly in an up and down motion.
Keep doing for at least 10 seconds. Do ten reps of bouncing to maintain the blood circulation in your eye muscles.
Trace-An-Eight:
Find a plain surface, either a wall or ceiling. Be calm and relaxed in any position. Either you can sit and look at any wall or lay down on the bed to stare at the roof/ceiling. And, imagine a jumbo eight figure or an infinity sign on the surface.
Without moving your head, trace the sign or figure of eight/infinity. Do at least five reps of this exercise. Then give your eyes a break before you do it five more times.
