Blockbuster Bollywood Films That Are Actually Copied From Hollywood
Imagine this scenario- there is an exam. One student comes totally prepared for the exam and writes so well that the second student copies his answers. The results are out and the second student walks away with the same marks as the first student despite unoriginal answers. You might find this unrealistic but this happens. Replace the first student with Hollywood and the second student with Bollywood. Well, how realistic is it now?
Here are some of the iconic Bollywood films which are either inspired, adapted or based on some Hollywood film. Basically, copied from!
1. Sholay copied from The Magnificent Seven
You did not see this coming! This Bollywood classic ran in cinemas for 5 years and was the first Bollywood film to celebrate a silver jubilee run in 100 theaters across India. But, Sholay is not an original film. It is “inspired” from the Hollywood film, The Magnificent Seven. Seven people are summoned from across the world to make a village free from the terrors of a bandit group. In Sholay, instead of seven people, two people were brought to Ramgad for the same purpose.
2. Agneepath copied from Scarface
The iconic character of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in Agneepath is adapted from Al Pacino in Scarface. Scarface also revolves around a low life scum whose ability to fight and hunger for revenge makes him the top mafia. 3. Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar from Breaking Away
This blockbuster film bears an uncanny resemblance to the American movie, Breaking Away. 5. Baghban copied from Make Way For Tomorrow
It is surprising that the plot of a 1937 film can still be selling in 2003. Make Way For Tomorrow takes the audience on an emotional ride when an old couple is forced to live separately with their own children after their house is sold. There are times in the film when you will cry and smile at the same time. We know that Baghban has done a great job in imitating this plot when we find those exact emotional moments in this Indian film too.
6. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S from Patch Adams
Everyone loved Munna Bhai and his antics. But when you love a Bollywood character so much, you should figure out that it is probably inspired from another original character from another industry. Patch Adams enters a medical school fraudulently, is kind-hearted, plays funny antics to make patients happy and gets into trouble with the Chief of Department. Need we say anything else?
7. Phir Hera Pheri from Lock,Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
We hate to break this bubble for you but the main plot of this laughter riot is ripped off from a British comedy, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. This is how we feel after learning that our go-to comedy film is not original-
8. Heyy Baby copied from Three Men & A Baby
The name of the movie,Three Men & A Baby, itself gives away the entire plot of Heyy Baby. The hedonistic lifestyle of three men comes to a halt when a baby lands on their doorstep.
