It is a common joke among the menfolk that they can’t seem to understand what women actually want. So let me help you out with it. Read to know about the things women actually want!

1. Respect

Surprise surprise! I know this might seem like the most ironic thing but it is true. We want respect. Respect as mothers for raising you. As sisters for being by your side. And respect as a friend and a girlfriend for helping you out in life. But you know what, respect us because we are also human beings. Simple. 

 

2. Love

When Elvis Presley famously sang,

 

“Wise men say, only fools rush in,

But I can’t help falling in love with you..”

 

He was referring to us. Yes. We can be the fool sometimes but isn’t it human to express and receive love? 

We crave for love. After all love is that blanket which brings you warmth during cold nights. It is what makes this life worth living. Don’t demean or belittle us for being in love. That’s what defines us. Stop calling us a fool because we are in love. And don’t take our love for granted either.

Also, it would be great if you could express it too. That would be a cherry on top!

 

3. Equality, Equality & Equality

Another bummer! But yes, we want equality. We want equality when our male colleague is paid more for the same amount of work. And when we are not hired after marriage because “Oh you will get pregnant and then we will have to pay for your maternity leave.”  Uhm, last I checked, we don’t get pregnant all by ourselves. You also have a role to play. 

And when I say equality, I also raise the flag for feminism because why not!

 

4. We don’t want reservation, simply give us a quality education!

According to the constitution of our country, we are entitled to be treated as a special class. That’s because of the amount of suffering bestowed upon us since generations. That’s why we have reserved seats in buses and a reserved coach in the metro. And trust me, I travel in public transport, this reservation is huge sigh of relief. It keeps me at bay from all the ogling men and their “unintentional touch”.

But when it comes to jobs and elections, we would rather want a quality education. Help us in our formative years by making education accessible to us. By making sure we have a college degree against our name. Rest we can manage. But provide us just this. 

 

5. The right to choose

As a woman, I want the right to choose. The right to choose whether I want to wear pinks or do I want to wear black. To choose whether I want to love a man or another woman. The right to marry, not marry or to re-marry. Or the right to become a mother or adopt a child. 

Regardless of everything, the one thing that women want the most is this. The thing that women actually want is the right to choose.
