Top Smartphones of April 2020
Coronavirus has affected many industries to the brink of bankruptcy, but the smartphone industry has remained as hot and active as ever, thanks to their already internet based showcasing and shopping methods. The month of April 2020 was a very anticipated one in the tech community. Let’s look at the smartphones which were the reason behind this.
1. iPhone SE 2020
Learning a lesson from the first iPhone SE and the success of the iPhone 8, Apple has swept the mid-range smartphone market off its feet with the launch of the much-awaited iPhone SE 2020. This new iPhone combines the small, trusty and familiar iPhone 8 body, screen, and camera with the fastest processor in their arsenal, the A13 Bionic, and comes at a starting price of ~40,000 INR. A perfect fit for someone who needs a relatively cheap upgrade to a faster iPhone, but don’t like the bulk or the price of the latest iPhone 11 series.
2. OnePlus 8 Series
Another heavily leaked and anticipated series of phones, these devices have made OnePlus an official competitor in the expensive flagship smartphone segment. OnePlus have always been known for their ”flagship killer” tagline, but with the OnePlus 8 Pro starting at ~55,000INR, they have had a change of reputation (for the good!). These phones are expected to be the rage in India, bringing the 5G experience along with a top of the line camera setup, best in segment QHD+ 120Hz screen, and the best Android experience with OxygenOS!
3. Motorola Edge+
Motorola announced its long-awaited return to the premium smartphone market with the Motorola Edge+. After making successful lower end smartphones for years, Motorola has made a comeback with this device featuring a huge, FHD+ ‘Edgeless’ display, aggressive screen-to-body ratio, 90Hz screen, 12GB of super-fast RAM, huge 108MP sensor and a massive 5000mAh battery which supports wireless charging too! Anyone who has been a fan of the clean Motorola experience but wanted something better from the company will definitely love this phone!
4. Oppo Ace 2
Oppo has finally launched it flagship phones in India, with probably an unexpected foray into the premium flagship sector. They are betting a lot of money on this move since the Ace 2 doesn’t compromise at all. It’s massive 90Hz screen, impressive camera setup, huge 4000mAh battery and Snapdragon’s latest 865 processor pitch this phone right alongside the big boys at the top. We’re very excited to see how Oppo plans to compete with other older and much more familiar brands in the flagship sector.
2020’s 2nd Quarter began with great smartphone announcements which will affect the entire industry year-round. These smartphones cater to all categories of users, which is why they were so looked forward to, by casual users and enthusiasts equally. With Samsung also having announced their S20 phones, it will be interesting to see how these strong competitors pile up against other phones in their segments.
