Shows like MasterChef and channels like “Food Food” have played a huge role in their upliftment. However, there still remain many chefs whose talent goes unrecognized. These chefs will not only remind you of your Ghar ka khana but also take you around the world with just one plate! Here are the Top Chefs of India, some of which you might know and some will be an eye-opener!
1) Chef Sanjeev Kapoor – Best chef of India
Let’s start with the God of Indian Cooking! Sanjeev Kapoor is one of the most popular and respected names in India. He has played a prominent role in helping the food industry grow. Not only has he revolutionized cooking and but has also made exotic dishes at home, thus giving home cooking a new definition.
Those who don’t recognize him yet might remember him from a TV show called Khana Khazana which ran for 17 years! That’s a lot of years! Moreover, he has written over 150 bestselling books. Along with being a restauranteur, he has also received several culinary awards.
In addition, Sanjeev Kapoor is known as the ‘Best Chef of India’. This award is given to him by the Government of India. Further, he was chosen as an Indian ambassador for the United States Clean Cookstoves for the fashioning nations. To add more to his achievements, he has started a cookware brand, Wonderchef which got a great response. He also works with the channel Food Food and does cooking shows.

2) Chef Vikas Khanna – The Michelin star in our top chefs’ list
You might know this handsome face from the all-time popular show, MasterChef India. This humble chef started his journey from his grandmother’s kitchen in Amritsar and has reached great heights!
Although he’s now settled in New York, he is famously recognized for being one of the few Indian chefs to win a Micheline Star. He won it for his restaurant Junoon in New York. Also, he has worked in India for quite some time with hotel chains like The Taj, Oberoi, and Leela.
Speaking of achievements, he has worked with the best chefs around the world including Gordon Ramsay and Bobby Flay. Furthermore, he arranged dinner for the former US president Barack Obama. How’s that for an achievement! In addition, he has also served the current PM of India, Narendra Modi. Last but not the least, he has recognized several awards including the “sexiest man alive” by People’s magazine in 2011 and “GQ man of the year” in 2012.
3) Chef Ranveer Brar – Mumma’s Boy!
If you were following MasterChef India, you would certainly know who this man is! Also, he has his own YouTube channel – Chef Ranveer for some time which is quite popular. At the age of 25, he was the youngest official culinary expert to have ever worked with a five-star in India.
Currently, he is the senior official culinary expert at the Novotel Mumbai, Juhu Beach. He supervising the Dosa Factory and Shalimar in Cambridge in addition to Mantra in Boston. That’s a lot at hand! Moreover, he is famous for his food show “Health bhi, taste bhi” on Zee Khana khazana. He is known for presenting unique and easy cooking. In addition, he shares his experiences, facts, cooking background, and formulas for your dish to be perfect!

4) Chef Ritu Dalmia – Phir Bhi Dil hai Hindustani!
One of the lesser-known but highly regarded chefs is Ritu Dalmia. She has gained international success and is the best in her field of Italian cuisine!
She has opened multiple restaurants in Delhi and one called Diva has been very popular. Also, she has also hosted a TV show called Italian Khana that won many awards. She is among the first chef-restaraunteers in the country. Apart from being a hands-on chef in her restaurants, she has also taken a leap and gone abroad. She has opened Cittamani in Milan which is drawing Italian clientele who have never tasted Indian food. And what’s more, the brand is set to go all over Europe! Girl Power!
5) Chef Manish Mehrotra -The modernist in the top chefslist
Yet another brilliant chef! Manish is very famous and skilled in his field of Indian cooking. He calls his cooking style “modern Indian cuisine,”. Chef Manish launched Indian Accent, a globally recognized restaurant as a result of his 9-year culinary journey.
His achievements are never-ending! He owns Vir Sanghvi Award, HT City Crystal Awards, along with the title of Best Chef of 2010 & 2012. Apart from winning many awards, he was the only Indian chef invited to the World Gourmet Summit, in 2011 Singapore. He was on Master Chef India 2015 as the Guest Chef,
Mehrotra is the corporate chef of Luxury Dining for ‘Old World Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.’ and heads the kitchens of Indian Accent in New Delhi. Kudos to this man!
6) Tarla Dalal – The first among the top chefs of India
Millennial or not, this name is not new to anyone! She was the woman who revolutionized the food industry in India. Chef Tarla Dalal (June 1936 – 6 November 2013) was a food author, culinary expert, cookbook writer, and host of cooking appears.
Her first cookbook, The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking, was distributed in 1974. Later she composed more than 100 books and sold more than 3 million copies. She additionally ran the biggest Indian site for a magazine, Cooking and More. Her cooking carries The Tarla Dalal Show and Cook It Up With Tarla Dalal. She died on 6 November 2013 after a heart attack but is ranked among the Top Chefs in India.
