Today, I will be talking about Unwanted Sexual arousal. This disorder can embarrass you in front of many people and also make you feel uncomfortable. The disorders are called Priapism and Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. Let us now discuss both of them in detail:
Unwanted Sexual Arousal in Men
Unwanted Sexual arousal in men is called Priapism. It is a condition in which men suffer from long unwanted sexual arousal and erections without any sexual stimulus. The blood flow gets into the tissues of the penis and the erection continues for long hours. A person who is suffering from Priapism can suffer from an erection that can last for 4 to 6 hours.
It can be classified into Ischemic (low-flow), non-ischemic (high-flow) and recurrent ischemic. Priapism can be very painful and extremely embarrassing too.
In most of the cases, masturbation and hot showers can provide temporary relief but you should seek medication. “Priapism can also cause erectile dysfunction and death of penis tissues if not treated on time” says doctors and researchers.
Do you smoke weed or snort cocaine? Are you usually depressed and anxious and use tons of medications for that? Well Congrats you might have Priapism.
It can also be caused if you have any of the disease or problem mentioned in this image:
In case you have priapism, you should visit your nearest doctor as it can be harmful to your health. Priapism can be diagnosed by doing an ultrasound of your penis and can be treated by proper medication.
The medicines can reduce pain and provide relief, ice bags can be used to relieve the pain caused by Priapism too. In urgent cases, surgery might be required too. Although this condition is very rare and the symptoms are easily visible one should consult a doctor.
Unwanted Sexual Arousal in Women
Yes Priapism occurs in women too. It is called Clitoral Priapism. It is very painful and hurtful. In this case, the organs that drain the blood from the genitals or the organs that are supposed to relax the genitals can’t perform their function properly. This condition can often lead to swelling, pain and irritation. Also if it is not treated on time it can even lead to fibroids and blood clots.
Causes and treatment
