Who would have thought that someone eating a bat somewhere will bring the entire world to a standstill? Who would have thought that the impact of such an act would be so gruesome? That the world’s economy would start crashing, the world will experience another recession, so many people will lose their jobs and mind you, in this equation, the daily wage workers are the worst affected.

The economic fallout from the coronavirus is jeopardizing most of this year’s state-wide initiatives to increase salaries.
According to Manish Sisodia, who is also the education minister of Delhi, clarified that charges such as transport fee, annual fee or any other miscellaneous head cannot be levied during the lockdown.
Schools generally have 200-5000 students and it’s very easy for one infected student to pollute a classroom and so onwards.
Online classes are a solution to this problem. But what is problematic in this is that there is no difference between home time and school time. Most people in urban areas live in nuclear families where children go to school and hobby school meaning they spend 8-10 hours outside the home and the husband-wife are in separate jobs. They are not used to be with their parents 24 hours. Children without school are completely off routine.
The rural schools and parents are devoid of all these facilities. Children who belong to lower strata of society are now caught up with a livelihood challenge. Parents also don’t know enough to help their children out in studying.
That being said, the world is witnessing a boom in online education. A Google study says that the online education market in India is set to grow to $1.96 billion by 2021. Byju’s hit unicorn status with a valuation of $6 billion with support from financial Tiger Global. People downloading apps like Coursera, udemy, and skillshare have increased manifold.
On the flip side, regulators say they have received complaints about non-payment of salaries to teachers. The situation is not restricted to just one region. Across states, teachers and staff of many private educational institutions are either having to take a pay cut or fear to lose a job.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) in a recent report, said that job losses, non-payment of salaries, and reduction of wages may risk pushing thousands of Indian deeper into poverty.
