One’s body image relates to what picture they create of themselves in their mind. Though it might not match with the actual shape and size of one’s body, but it tells a lot about one’s mental growth. With time one understands how important it is to feel contented in your own body type. Sometimes it turns totally hard to feel satisfied in your own frame.

Teenage being the most crucial part of pubertal development. It is when each of your nerves plays the card of anxiety and panic attacks. When you judge yourself on the basis of how you look and start feeling absolutely worthless. Your lower self-esteem teaches you the real meaning of being yourself. Teenagers start measuring their worth with the way they look and not with the way they think. They think everything they get is what they deserve which isn’t fair. Their lower self-esteem directly relates to their negative image of their body in their mind.

The fashion industry has influenced the generations so much to look a certain way. That people has stopped treating them in a manner they should be treated. Even if they don’t fit into the so-called perfect criteria of the society. Teenagers have been conditioned into a manner that teaches them that if you fit into society’s ideal idea of mankind then only you deserve respect and recognition. These ideas of ideal body type creep body image insecurities in a teenager. It becomes the birth giver of questioning oneself.
A teenager needs to create a positive body image in his mind of himself which would be the foundation of positive mental health in the near future. One’s way of thinking depends on environmental factors such as family, peers, social media and cultural background. If your peers and family support your way of living your life with contentment with your body type automatically everything turns out to be positive and beautiful else if they aren’t supportive towards it, you end up feeling miserable about yourself which is the reason for self-doubt to creep in.
Recently when Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa won the title of Miss Universe 2019, she broke every other stereotype that was tied with the title of Miss Universe. In an interview she said that at first even she was being questioned because of a certain way she looks, people asked her to put a wig or a weave but breaking all these societal norms she achieved the title for herself which inspired every other girl like her to believe in their dreams.
There are so many live examples around that influence us to be ourselves no matter how hard the society make it for people like these to dwell. Models like Ashley Graham, Denis Bidot and Iskara are inspirations. There are choreographers like Saroj Khan and Geeta Kapoor who has made their name in the industry so well.
Accept that nobody is perfect, everyone has flaws and one should embrace their flaws because that’s what make them unique. Even the perfect looking star gets trolled because people one way or the other finds a way to put you down. Therefore, accept yourself for who you are. Words like, you are getting too fat, you are too dark, you are too short, no one will marry you takes up to the calm mindset of a teenager and turn it into disaster.
Society, parents and friends are the key person for the teenagers. The teenagers will be ashamed about his or her body image. They will stand near mirror hours together finding fault in everything from their hair to nails to skin. The mind is set to think in a certain way which brings down their confident level.
One should care enough but don’t care about comments that demotivate your inner self. Its in our hands how we perceive a half glass of water, whether its half empty or half full. Remember one’s bodily features doesn’t define their worth. Someone is so much more than what’s their skin shade and waist size is. The world can’t always treat you right for who you are but you can always make sure that you don’t treat yourself bad. At the end of the day it’s you alone against all the odds. Believe in your inner strength, believe what you do will always take you to heights. Just remember to stay positive, healthy and keep growing.
