Irrfan Khan: The legacy pure as Gold
I refuse to be an object of people’s fascination. I’m not here to do a fashion parade. When I play the common man, I play a very sceptical common man. I am his strength. If you decide who plays a hero by how he looks, you need to redifine heroism
Many came and many have gone, but Irrfan Khan is one of those who made a different kind of impact on this world with his work. Today, we lost another legend in the film industry as a cause of unfortunate events. He was admirable not just as an actor but also as a human being. And his love for his work is shown when he rejected a role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar because of his Hindi project The Lunchbox, which shows his infinite love towards Bollywood and his country. He said in an interview once:
I just can’t live anywhere else in the world other than India
He did an excellent piece of acting in every genre. From Doordarshan to Hollywood, he has come a long way with his limitless talent. He has done many appreciable movies that may or may not have worked their way to the box office but they had a mind-blowing plot combined with Irrfan’s versatile performances. Irrfan Khan said in an interview:
The extraordinary career:
He started his career with a minor role in Salaam Bombay, later on, he made it to the Indian television when he was offered a role in the Doordarshan show Laal ghaas par needle ghode. He then acted in some of the episodes of Star-Bestsellers.
I remember sobbing all night when Mira told me my part was reduced to merely nothing. I was prepared for anything after that – Irrfan Khan when his part in Salaam Bombay was cut off
His first breakthrough when he was offered a role in a movie The warrior offered by Asif Kapadia. His first lead role was in the movie Rog in 2005. His performance was praised by critics; one wrote, “Irfaan’s eyes speak louder than his words and every time he is in the frame, be it talking to his buddy Manish or arguing with Suhel, he shows his capability as an actor”.
Mohobbat hai isi liye jaane diya, zidd hoti toh baahon mein hoti
As he kept succeeding, He then got opportunities to appear in International blockbusters like Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, and The Amazing Spiderman. In 2013, he starred in The Lunchbox, which won the Grand Rail d’Or at Cannes Film Festival and received a BAFTA nomination and became his highest-grossing Hindi Film up until then.
Kismat ki ek khaas baat hoti hai, ke wo palatti hai – Gunday
His screen presence always overshadowed the biggest superstars in the industry. He did an extraordinary job in movies like Piku, Life in a Metro, Gunday, Talwar, and Madaari. He then created some masterpieces like Hindi Medium and Qarib Qarib Single. His last movie was Angrezi Medium which got a setback due to the COvID-19 pandemic.
But, well, we would have loved to see him in more movies like this. Fate did its course and took him away from all of us. In his memory here are some of his iconic dialogues:
He always used to say some inspirational and positive things every time he talked to friends and in talk shows, interviews he showered his positivity everywhere. Let’s present some of the inspiring Irrfan Khan quotes:
He always wanted to be a cricketer but failed to do so because of a lack of money. If he was so brilliant as an actor then imagine how he would have been as a cricketer. We are sure that his personality and his works will continue to be magic and inspiration for every human being on the planet. He has set some great standards for his upcoming generations.
Amma has come to take me – His last words
His acting skills and performances are and will be admired beyond borders. Even heaven deserves to be touched by his brilliance. Legends never die, they always remain in our hearts. I hope this article will remind you of him as an actor and a wonderful human being he was. May his soul Rest in peace.
