How to Help Stray Animals During Winters
Help Stray Animals During Winters: “Winter is Coming”, nope, it’s already here. And if there are any stray animals around your house, you’d know that they are not very fond of winter. Lack of food and no proper shelter can make their survival difficult. If your heart also calls out to those poor lives but you’re not sure how to help them, here is a listicle on how to help stray animals during winter.
How You Can Help Stray Animals during Winters
Report the animal.
The first thing to do when you find a stray animal is to call your local rescue organization and inform them. They would know better about what action to take and can also check if it’s a lost pet.
Provide shelter.
Providing shelter to a stray animal during the chilly nights of winter can make the difference of life and death. But how to? There are a few ways of doing it.
Take them in.
This one is quite obvious. First, you should consider if it is possible for you to take the animal in your home because that would be the best for the animal. But also, make sure you first go and check with a vet that it is safe to keep the animal around.
Find them a shelter.
Practically speaking, you can’t take in every stray animal you encounter on the streets. If that’s the case but you still wish to help them, you can find a shelter for them. This shelter can be a park bench, a house shed or anything that provides some sort of cover to them.
Make a shelter.
If you are unable to find a shelter for them, make one. Don’t worry; it’s not as difficult as you think. You can make a shelter for the animals out of routine things like a cardboard box, plastic bags, rubber tires, etc. Here is a video to help you out.
Provide Food.
Just like us, diet of animals also changes slightly during the winter season. They require more energy to maintain their warmth and hence, more food. For stray animals, it could be a difficult task to find enough food. That’s why you should try to feed the stray animals in your locality so that it’s easier for them to survive.
Provide Warm Clothes.
Now this one would require a little effort (and money) from your side but it would definitely make a big difference to the animals. The biggest challenge for these animals during winter is to survive the cold weather and if you could help them in being warm, you are literally a lifesaver. Also, dogs and cats look really cute while wearing sweaters so, that’s also a plus point.
Go ahead then, help an animal, save a life.
Happy Winters!
