MET GALA 2019: The Classic, Blunt and Experimental

Met Gala has been well known as a luxurious, blockbuster event and considered ” the jewel in New York city’s social crown”. The gala is widely regarded as amongst the most prominent and most exclusive social events in the world. It is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Thus the contribution by a single entry in Met 2019 was fixed at 30K USD.

And of course, it has been controversial from 1948 to this date. The astonishing costumes and weird themes have got several gossips and rumors.

The Controversial Gala

As in 2014, the white tie dress code became a matter of concern. The media houses created a huge brouhaha. And reminded the gala officials about the difficulty in obtaining the most traditional white ties for even guests.

And then in 2016, Madonna the all-time controversial personality dressed in a bold outfit. She appeared in an ensemble designed by Givenchy, exposing both her breasts and buttocks. 

Then in 2018, the Roman Catholic theme of Gala was criticized on social media. And called blasphemous along with ‘sacrilegious cosplay’.

Well, this year met was too royal. It was classy, bold, and full of experiments. After all, that’s what it is known for. So why not let’s check out the most memorable moments of the gala-night.

The Classic Elegance

As the theme of Met 2019 was ‘Camp- Notes On Fashion’. These costumes were classic, elegant and took the camp seriously. Well, the camp means extra, bold,  exuberant, and unique. And some of these costumes are so onto the camp that you will not help yourself by looking at them. 

 

Zandaya in Tommy Hilfiger. Her Cinderella look dazzled the carpet.

 

Dakota Johnson wore a bleeding heart bloody gown made by Gucci.

Gisele Bundchen was looking elegant in Dior. It was so campy and of course, matching the carpet.

Kacey Musgraves in full Moschino barbie dress. I mean just look at her!

The fabulous Deepika Padukone was looking like some magic in Zac Posen’s costume.

In Versace blue and green combo, Dua Lipa made her first met look vibrant.

Hailey Bieber in her baby pink mermaid gown stunned the lenses. The costume she wore was designed by Alexander Wagner.

 

The Bold Baby Pink Carpet

And there were the bold ones to blow your mind up. Now bold does not always mean to expose just to have some lenses. Rather these are the gutsy fashion icons who dare to do it the way they like. And hit the carpet no matter what.

Serena Williams the co-chair of met gala 2019 wore the bright yellow Versace. Also, her color matching shoes made her bold and blunt at the gala.

Cara Delevigne was wearing a multi-colored and boldly designed Costume by Dior. The headpiece was giving it the way look.

Cardi B’s blood-red gown by Thom Browne stole the met gala 2019. The nipples added to highlight her breast were specially and beautifully designed.

Kim Kardashian had everyone talking about her dripping wet Thierry Mugler Dress at Met this year.

Jenner Sisters hit the carpet wearing Versace of purple and orange color.

Jennifer Lopez’s Met 2019 outfit was the most breathtakingly spot-on look of all. Designed by Versace with shiny glitters. Also, she had joined the club of the hottest couple on the red carpet when she walked with her husband.

Halsey was in the look of a warrior princess. And yes she did justice to it really well in Prabal Gurung’s bloody gown.

Gigi Hadid channeled the Ice Queen at the met ball. Her costume was one of the best Michael Kors collections.

Emma Stone stunned the red carpet in Luis Vuitton jumpsuit. Which was all glittering and giving the boldest and blunt look.

 

Experiments of Met 2019

No surprise met gala is all about experimenting with the old or discovering something magnanimous. This year the huge furs and giant headpieces have got the space along with weird designs.

Billy Porter was bedecked at the gala night by a group of strapping men. And the litter on the carpet was spillover just right then.

Well, all hail to Billy for that amazing and astonishing costume designed by The Blonds and styled by Sam Ratelle. You might get surprised but he was the only one who was so closed to hit lady Gaga’s Showstopping look.

Kety Perry, in the cake-like Moschino chandelier, was not content with only shine and bright. Later on, a ball, her hamburger look was absolutely finger-licking. She has proved how food is close to her heart Hamburger at met.

 

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, the newlyweds were one of the hottest couples of the met gala. Both were wearing finally designed costumes of Dior. 

 

 

Ezra Miller wore the Burberry’s Richardo Tisci this year. His outfit was really the campiest outfit worn by any guest. 

 

Hailee Steinfeld said “No Photos Please” but we couldn’t resist, like really;)

 

Michael Urie in Christian Siriano’s outfit paused the show for a while. His costume was making a clear genderbending statement.

Janelle Monae was may not be the one who stopped the show. But she wore the best headpiece ever of all.

 

Diane Von Furstenberg in the outfit resembling the statue of liberty.

 

And last but not least Lady Gaga the show stopper of course.

She had a breathtaking entry of all. Initially, it was the gala gown. And further, she unraveled her three amazing outfits in a go. Her 13.5 minutes show was unbelievable and wow.

This was the last of her costume series but trust me cameras were expecting for more. After all who knows Lady Gaga.

In this way Met Gala this year was more like Met Gaga. And became the most memorable fashion exhibition.
